Internationally recognised certificate from American Heart Association.
The course provides hand-on practice DVD based training in the skills of adult, child and infant CPR according to the American Heart Association international standards.
- Correct use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
- Identify and assist a choking adult, child or infant.
Additional information on the recognition of heart attack and stroke are also provided.
Who can benefit
The Heart saver CPR & AED Course is intended for those people who are expected to provide CPR in the workplace when needed. The course targets all lay responders such as fire fighters, police, airline crews, security personnel, sport coaches, life guards, etc. who needs to be able to apply proper CPR & AED skills on adult, children and infants.
Learners receive a 50-page full colour Heartsavers CPR & AED student workbook to review before, during and after the course. Two pocket size “reminder cards” are included with the workbook, displaying the correct steps for adult, child and infant CPR, including the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) The participants will be assessed on their practical and required to complete a written assessment after training.
The participant does not need to be a Healthcare Provider to attend the course and is widely recommended as CPR is an essential life skill. However the participant should have carefully read through the manual prior to the day of training.

An American Heart Association Identification card is issued on successful completion of the course. It is valid for 2 years.
R620 per person, refreshments included
This course earns 7 CPD points. Continuing Professional Development points are according to the Health Professionals Council of South Africa.
